Author's Statement

I enjoy using the writing craft to tell a thought-provoking, sometimes humorous essay or story that inspires readers to celebrate and appreciate unusual circumstances or people. In my favorite pieces, the pace flows well or undulates along a sine wave of gentle hills and shallow valleys. The pieces are written in such a way as to invite readers in, keep them there for cocktails, and coax out a good laugh or a cry.

I write about what I know: my experiences as a child of divorce, a woman and mother in the military, a military spouse, a non-traditional student, and someone who wants the world to be a better place for everyone, especially the marginalized.
